Our Process

Rationally organized, simply designed and highly specified to facilitate the best use of the space and to provide a clean backdrop for a palette of abundant naturalistic plantings. Materials are selected to complement the existing architecture and local vernacular, to create a sympathetic backdrop for buildings and the plants. A key strength to our designs is the play between formal and informal elements and in the relationship between volumes of architectural space and plantings.

Primarily selected for their suitability to the environment and for their compatibility in forming self-supporting communities. Color, texture, form, foliage and scent are given equal importance in enhancing the sense of place. Plantings are designed to give year-round seasonal interest, which is provided by a succession of trees, shrubs, hardy perennials and grasses, bulbs and annuals. Plants are used to help seat buildings into their sites, soften hard landscaping and create garden spaces with distinct moods while always referring to the surrounding environment. Decorative plantings are kept closer to buildings, where ornamental perennials and hardy exotics are used to create a heightened naturalism, while the use of native species towards the boundaries creates sympathetic links to the outer landscape.
